Trespa® NL Project of the Month (July): Imagine Rotterdam
How Trespa Elevated Hoeve Zuid into a Warm, Welcoming Care Environment
When architecture meets innovation, the result is more than just a building, it becomes a place where people feel at home. That vision came to life at Hoeve Zuid in Veldhoven, a newly opened residential care complex that blends thoughtful design with strong social impact. At the heart of its architectural identity is Trespa.
As part of our ongoing collaboration with ArchiComm, Trespa is proud to have played a key role in this standout project, which perfectly demonstrates how the right materials can enhance both form and function in environments that serve people first.
More Than Just a Surface
In modern architecture, materials are more than construction elements. They help define the atmosphere, long-term performance, and user experience of a building. At Hoeve Zuid, Trespa® Meteon® panels were selected not only for their elegant appearance, but also for their practical and enduring qualities.

Why Trespa?
Trespa® Meteon® panels are known for their exceptional durability and weather resistance, making them ideal for long-term use.
They require very little maintenance, which is important in care environments where reliability and cleanliness are priorities.
The colour scheme was carefully matched to the window frames, creating a unified and calm exterior aesthetic.
By alternating brickwork with Trespa®Meteon® panels, the architectural team introduced rhythm, depth, and a sense of human scale that makes the building feel warm and approachable.
As architect Willem Keeris explained, “The complex is a spacious place where residents feel comfortable and safe. The materials we chose were essential in creating that atmosphere.”

Built on Collaboration
Hoeve Zuid is also a showcase of how early collaboration leads to better outcomes. From the initial design phases, the project brought together Keeris Architecten, contractor Gebr. Van Gisbergen, developer Long at Home, the municipality of Veldhoven, and material partners like Trespa through the ArchiComm network.
This early and continuous teamwork allowed for well-informed decisions, efficient planning, and a smooth building process. The Trespa team was involved from the start, not just as a supplier, but as an active partner in helping the project meet both aesthetic and performance goals.
Jim Wolters from Trespa International put it best: “This wasn’t just about delivering panels. It was about contributing to a shared vision, creating a place that truly feels like home for the elderly.”

Materials that Reflect Care
Hoeve Zuid includes 74 residential units, six semi-detached homes, and several community-focused spaces like a teahouse and bakery. Every design decision was made with the residents in mind.
Materiality played a crucial role. The use of Trespa® Meteon® allowed the architectural team to add warmth, tactility, and richness to the building’s facade while ensuring durability and compliance with rigorous standards. The result is a structure that feels both solid and soft, protective yet inviting.

A New Standard for Care Architecture
Hoeve Zuid is more than a successful construction project. It is an example of how thoughtful design, trusted materials, and strong collaboration can lead to meaningful places that serve real human needs.
Trespa is proud to have been part of this journey and to continue our partnership with ArchiComm in spotlighting architecture that truly makes a difference.
