De Markering in Marknesse
In the heart of Marknesse, a new multifunctional building has risen, bringing fresh energy to the community. De Markering, a state-of-the-art facility featuring a sports hall, cafeteria, and meeting rooms, has been carefully designed as a central gathering place for residents. At the core of its striking appearance and long-term resilience is Trespa ® Meteon®, a façade solution that provided the architects with unmatched design flexibility, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
A Name with Meaning
The name De Markering was not chosen at random. The previous community centre, De Marke, had become outdated and no longer met today’s standards, leaving a gap in the social fabric of the village. The new building not only serves as a replacement but also acts as a true social marker, enhancing connectivity among residents.
Blending Sports, Community, and Innovative Materials
Recognising that the existing sports hall, built in the 1980s, was also in need of renovation, planners saw an opportunity to merge sports and community spaces into one cohesive structure. This approach enhances the building’s functionality while ensuring it meets the diverse needs of its residents. To bring this vision to life, the architects needed a material that would provide both visual impact and long-lasting performance—a challenge perfectly met by Trespa ® Meteon® panels.
Trespa® Meteon®: The Architects’ Choice for Aesthetic and Performance
A key architectural challenge was creating a design that felt fresh and modern while seamlessly integrating with the existing structures. The previous hall had a blue colour scheme, and KHV Architecten used this as inspiration for a gradient of Trespa® Meteon® façade panels in various Trespa® Meteon® Uni Colours with a rock texture, bringing a contemporary yet harmonious look to the building.
Beyond aesthetics, Trespa® Meteon® provided architects with the freedom to achieve intricate detailing and dynamic façade without compromising on performance. Its exceptional durability, low maintenance, and weather resistance made it the ideal material to withstand daily use and environmental exposure while maintaining a vibrant appearance for years to come.
One of the features that stands out of the façade is the custom-designed lettering, crafted from Trespa® panels. This element, created by Bouwbedrijf Doorn, demonstrates precision-cutting capabilities of Trespa® products, allowing for the integration of unique branding and identity into the architectural design.
Trespa’s Role in a Community-Driven Project
Construction of De Markering began in November 2023, with the building officially opening its doors to the public in autumn 2024. A remarkable highlight of the project was the fundraising auction, which raised an impressive €173,000, demonstrating the community’s dedication and support for the initiative.
For Bouwbedrijf Doorn, this project was unique not only in its design but also in its collaborative approach. A dedicated building team worked closely together, with active involvement from volunteers, local authorities, and skilled tradespeople, ensuring a smooth and successful construction process. Trespa’s reliable and easy-to-install panels contributed to efficient execution, helping streamline the workflow while maintaining the highest quality standards.
A New Landmark Brought to Life by Trespa
With its thoughtful design, high-quality materials, and strong community backing, De Markering is more than just a building—it’s a symbol of renewal and togetherness. Trespa® Meteon® played a pivotal role in enabling architects to push creative boundaries while ensuring long-lasting durability and minimal maintenance.
As residents gather within its walls for sports, meetings, and social events, the building stands as a lasting reminder of what can be achieved through innovative design, premium façade materials, and a shared vision for the future.
