Low-maintenance siding for a Colorado fire station

Situated 20 minutes north of Denver, Colorado, the city of Thornton was extremely cognizant of the design layout and materials used for construction of their new fire station.

“This was a unique project for the city moving staff from a centre city location to a working fire station,” said Brad Bonnet, Project Manager at Allred & Associates. Allred & Associates of Broomfield, Colorado has an expertise in designing fire stations and created a custom layout with 20 offices for administrative staff on the second level and the fire station on the first floor.

“Being in Colorado, we have to worry about sun and wind exposure,” Bonnet stated.

Knowing natural wood may not stand up to the elements, the team did extensive research for durable alternatives. The team had not worked with Pura® NFC before but was drawn to the fact that the material is low-maintenance, long-lasting and readily available. The siding was installed with ease thanks to a mock up that Mark Young Construction provided to the team.

Featuring Trespa’s PU08 Romantic Walnut as the soffit and PU24 Mystic Cedar for the siding, the city is extremely excited about both the functional layout and high-end aesthetic of the new building. Pura® NFC offered a warm wood look that the designer sought for the project and coordinated well with brick used throughout the project. Project Designer Brittany Crouch with Allred & Associates said, “We took a chance on this project using Trespa’s products for the first time. Based on how it turned out and our experience with the sales team, we now have three Pura® NFC projects in construction and/or design.”
