Trespa NL Project of the Month (December): Van der Valk Solar Systems, ’s-Gravenzande
Trespa and Archicomm are proud to recognise Architect Aad Bom and the new Van der Valk Solar Systems building in ’s Gravenzande as Project of the Month for December 2025.
Van der Valk Solar Systems, part of Van der Valk Systemen in the Dutch Westland region, is one of the fastest-growing players in the solar industry, specialising in innovative mounting systems for solar panels on almost every conceivable surface. To support this growth and remain close to the head office, the company chose a new location for its solar activities on Galgeweg 46. Outdated structures were replaced by a contemporary facility that reflects the company’s vision and long-term commitment to sustainable energy.
A façade inspired by the sun and the landscape
Architect Aad Bom (Aad Bom Architectural Design and Consultancy) developed several concepts for the new building, from which the team selected the solution that combined fast construction with architectural quality. From the outset, it was clear that the façade should express Van der Valk Solar Systems’ connection with solar energy, innovation and nature.
The location on the edge of the Westland – opposite green sports fields rather than within an industrial estate – strengthened the desire for a natural, landscape-friendly appearance. A green façade, therefore, became the logical starting point. Within the Trespa® Meteon® Lumen collection, the project team selected Trespa® Meteon® Olive Green L3673 Diffuse: a subtle, natural shade of green that gently absorbs daylight and lends the façade a refined, calm character. In combination with a golden yellow roof edge, this colour palette frames the building and creates a clear visual link to sunlight and energy, while allowing the volume to blend harmoniously into its surroundings.
Precise execution with local partners
The new building was realised by contractor Twins Bouw from ’s Gravenzande. All Trespa® Meteon® façade panels in Olive Green L3673 Diffuse were engineered and installed in-house, in close collaboration with Goedkoop Bouwmaterialen.
Project manager Thomas Zwinkels and site supervisor Cody Lokker worked closely with Manolito Kok to coordinate cutting lists, detailing and logistics. This intensive collaboration resulted in a façade where joints, corners and transitions are carefully resolved – fully in line with the technical precision that characterises Van der Valk Solar Systems’ mounting systems.
A future-ready façade that reflects innovation
With its Trespa® Meteon® Olive Green façade and a golden yellow roof edge, the new Van der Valk Solar Systems building has become a recognisable landmark along the Galgeweg. The architecture communicates what the company stands for: smart solar solutions, long-term performance and a strong commitment to a more sustainable built environment.
For Trespa, this Project of the Month underlines how colour, material and collaboration can come together in a façade that is both durable and expressive. The building not only provides Van der Valk Solar Systems with the space to continue growing but also delivers a strong visual identity that connects brand, location and technology.
