TAO Architecture + Design uses Trespa® Meteon® for the first time

TAO Architecture + Design took on a project to design the façade for a new self-storage facility on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The 10-story building presented an opportunity to make a remarkable impression.

Opting for a new product, the team aimed to achieve a fresh look using Trespa® Meteon® Naturals and Trespa® Meteon® Metallics. Chosen for its quality appearance, distinctive texture, and finish, the Trespa® panels proved to be the perfect solution. Recognizing the building's modern style, the team decided to accentuate the street-facing façade with the Trespa® panels. They integrated various colors and textures, complemented by monumental polished concrete blocks at the base.

Under the oversight of TAO's Director of Design, Melissa Crook, the installation of the Trespa® Meteon® panels proceeded smoothly. The result not only demonstrated the proficiency of the installers but also showcased the close collaboration with the panel fabricator, Universe Corporation, in detailing the panel attachments. Given the prominent and high-traffic location in Manhattan, durability, maintenance, and longevity of the façade materials were crucial considerations. Trespa® Meteon® panels’ weather-resistant, color-stable, and easy-to-clean properties met these demands effectively.

Upon completion, both TAO and the clients were delighted with the project. "The owner takes immense pride in the design of their facilities, and this project is truly exceptional for them, largely due to the meticulous treatment of the façade," remarked Melissa Crook. "The entire project team views this building as a significant achievement. As designers, we are particularly proud of the level of collaboration and attention to detail maintained throughout the design and construction process to bring it to fruition."
